What will be your first out-of-quarantine destination? We will definitely be strolling through Milano’s blooming streets planning the next getaway, sipping our always-favorite Aperol Spritz.

In the heart of Brera, a stone’s throw from the dynamic Porta Nuova district, a symbol of the old Milan. El Tombon De San Marc has remained still over the decades: inaugurated in 1957, the restaurant is characterized by its vintage-style interiors, from its crystal chandeliers to the Chester sofas.

A multifaceted trattoria loved by Milanese doc but also by tourists, and by those who have chosen Milan as their city of adoption.

Traditional meneghina cuisine allows you to savor tasty cult dishes such as saffron risotto, cotoletta, ossobuco, polenta and much more.

WHAT: El Tombon De San Marco, traditional trattoria.

WHERE: Via San Marco 20, Milano.

WHY: In addition to its impromptu atmosphere, the captivating legend around its name. Long story short, in the nineteenth century, in its place flowed a river whose current, in addition to being extremely strong, passed over what had once been one of the major city’s cemeteries, submerging it. For this reason, it is said that the annoyed dead grabbed anyone who, by will or mistake, fell into the troubled waters of the river. The name “Tombon” therefore derives from the local dialect which means “fiumiciattolo” (little river), the same crossed by the bridge which has been defined as “The Suicide Bridge”.
