Hot pink and grass green are just two of the must-have shades of spring/summer 21. Sure enough, to deconsecrate the gloomy season we left at our backs, all the vivid hues will act as a mesmerizing impact for each and every warmer attire. Don’t be shy, go for a total monochromatic look to feel extra bold or if you prefer to play safe choose your favorite tint to match with a non-color color.

For this month emerging brands episode, PLACESOFOURS is taking you to Georgia, the distinctive country of mountain villages nestled between Europe, Asia and the Black Sea. As well as the new generation of creators fashion hub.
In its burgeoning capital, Tbilisi, Lado Bokuchava has found its roots. The brand, founded by the eponymous designer, draws inspiration from the eccentric 80’s music scene, sewing bold and tailored pieces of clothing. Sensual yet modest dresses, blazers, pants and skirts, with vibrant colors, brutal cuts and retro-futuristic influences.
With headphones on shooting our favorite tunes, Lado Bokuchava is everything we’d want to wear in the post-pandemic-world. Fun, groovy, vibrant. Just a dance floor, a mirror ball and the after dark.
An avant-garde slice of today’s jewelry designers find inspiration in bodies to recreate statement duplicates of what we appear. Our body parts become surrealist objects of desire molded in different materials — necklaces, rings and masks as the most intriguing spring/summer 2021 must-haves.
These sculptural anatomy-inspired accessories, they are ears, pointed canines, demonic fingers (Fangophilia); they are a golden pierced-nose, a teeth necklace with gray pearls, a rigid bustier with built-in abs (Schiaparelli); but they are also eccentric everyday adornments, such a necklace sealed by a safety belt (Alyx Studio). Jewels that would look just as good as a collector’s piece.
With the pandemic restrictions still cutting off many social opportunities while summer is approaching, to organize outdoor picnics with friends can be a funny, sun-proof solution.
The rules to set up the perfect picnic are few but important, like picking the right spot, somewhere scenic and bucolic but plenty of natural shade, just in case the temperatures get too hot during the idyllic meal. Ça va sans dire, food has to be easy to cut, share and eat. For us delivery pizzas and a couple of soft drinks is a handy option, but if you have in mind to bring fresh food from home, don’t forget to portion and transport it in different jars. Not of less importance are the picnic looks and since it’s a nature party you can choose a casual dress code and play matchy matchy.
Traceability, upcycling and responsible production are just some of the cornerstones of sustainable fashion. Proposing green pieces of clothing in the here and now is a fundamental requirement for brands, which increasingly give life to eco-conscious and circular projects. A fashion system slowing down to make space for innovative or recycled materials and for a more respectful production, in order to protect both the environment and the craftsmanship. Aiming to offer alternatives for a healthier planet, among the emerging sustainable brands to know we point out SS Daley, appreciated by Harry Styles, who wore several brand’s items in the “Golden” videoclip, non‘s minimal and cool denim and the Waste Yarn Project knitwear made from boxes of yarn leftovers.
On the weekend we took advantage of the sunny spring weather to stroll around the city. To please our sweet tooth the first stop was the newly opened Scandinavian-inspired bakery Loste Café, close to the Porta Venezia district. Our goal was La Danese but as we arrived late we ended up going for a classic buttery coated cinnamon roll and a cruffin, a laminated dough with chocolate ganache and hazelnuts from Piedmont. Both extra-recommended despite not being our first choice. The bakery’s interiors are clean and minimal, the staff is friendly, so that gives the place a welcoming atmosphere.
Right after the tasty merenda, we kept wandering around, enjoying Milano’s different corners and details wearing different moods yet both transitional looks perfectly thought for the volatile April sky. And that’s it. Ready to entertain you on the next chapter.
Gucci and Balenciaga join forces to celebrate the Italian Maison centenary. The result is “Aria”, the co-ed and seasonless collection presented via a digital film directed by creative director Alessandro Michele and award-winning photographer Floria Sigismondi. The frame is a party at the Savoy Club, a reference to the Savoy Hotel where Guccio Gucci worked as a lobby boy. A party that translates into opulent sequin dresses, laminated fabrics and feathers. But also crystals, like those studded on the rigid human heart that becomes a bag to hold tight while remembering everything the pandemic has taken away from us and that “we miss in a poignant way: a party of air”, as Alessandro Michele writes in one of his notes.
Many are the references to the different Gucci worlds, like the equestrian heritage, which the brand started from, but declined in a more fetish version, and the accentuated sexuality of the Tom Ford period.
Last but not least, the collaboration between the Italian Maison and Demna Gvasalia’s streetwear. A mash-up featuring Balenciaga’s iconic pieces and cuts – the hourglass blazers, the 80s pronounced shoulders and logo leggings – revisited in a Gucci key.
Discovering the latest sneaker collaborations is like approaching a new religion each time.
Sneaker heads do it with respect and that pinch of sacredness needed to enjoy some new limited editions. Spring/summer 2021 opened with a series of must-own footwear capsule collections where luxury, contemporaneity and some nerdy touches embellish iconic sport staples.
Fanatics of the worldwide famous construction game? After 2020, adidas returns to collaborate with Lego, this time re-designing the Ultraboost model. A revolutionary and customer-oriented pair of kicks: the new Ultraboost DNA X Lego Plates sneakers, in fact, can be customized by inserting any bricks of the color you want. A collector’s accessory.
Two style icons meet in the creative union between Maison Margiela and Reebok. The result is the fusion of the essential silhouette of the Club C sneaker and the symbolic Tabi design the French Maison presented for the first time in 1989. The “split toe” cut, which separates the big toe from the others, becomes the Maison Margiela X Reebok style and innovation bearer.
Kim Jones, one the most valued and appreciated designer’s, has teamed up with Converse for a new take on their iconic Classic Chuck 70 sneakers. Still essential and straightforward the re-imagined kicks are available in two tonal colorways, featuring rubber overlays and a speed-lace system with a raised midsole to make them look quite chunkier.
The footwear is accompanied by four garments such as a nylon and mesh parka, crewnecks in soft French terry, cotton cargo pants and plain t-shirt in different hues to keep the 90’s vibes floating.
One of New Balance’s most anticipated collaborations is dropping in just a few days: Aimé Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis has hyped up the upcoming New Balance collab all over social media. The result is the P550 Basketball Oxford in premium white leather with contrasting green and yellow or navy and red accents: a vintage inspired look that got people on their toes to get their hands on them.
Forget sandals, mules and slippers. Clogs are the must-have shoes for spring/summer 2021. The iconic ones in black, brown or colored leather, with smooth side studs and wooden heels, join the millennial version in kaleidoscopic rubber.
Accessories that remind of the vast meadows of Dutch tulips, that Leandra Cohen would write an entire chapter on the former Men Repeller about, but that — being honest — every fashionista can’t wait to wear.
As we have said, if clogs’ styles are varied, numerous are also the ways to match them at best. Clogs are perfect with flared, but also boot cut jeans so as to fully show their upstream charm. Hermès made every single model of its SS21 collection wear them, mixing them with relaxed jumpsuits, mini or midi dresses and leather shorts. Clogs peer perfectly with floral dresses too, to fully sustain the bucolic theme. And again, It-Girl and French influencer Camille Charriere gives us a clog-lockdown-option, showing a pair off on Instagram with knitted socks and a cozy home-attire.
In short, a clog is for all moods and styles: choose your favorite from our PLACESOFOURS SS21 complete selection.
