FASHION GOES VICTORIAN

VICTORIAN MOOD.001

Severe and feminine. Fashion’s doors are always open to the the Victorian Era style, proposing years after years garments with an elegance that tastes like the past.

From the British court of Queen Victoria – from which the trend inevitably takes its name – to the most renowned 4.0 international catwalks, it’s a short step.

The wardrobe fills with exaggerated volumes, floral patterns and delicate lines with an intriguing mix of the yesterday spirit.

Green light for dresses, shoes and accessories with an aristocratic facade, such as the white ankle boot with precious golden embellishments by Christian Louboutin or the opulent silk dress from Horror Vacui.

As already seen with the Paula’s Ibiza x Loewe capsule collection, this psychedelic pattern is a hot season staple that goes with everything from head to toe.

The ethos and concept behind the brand revolve around the designer’s Irish heritage and culture, paying tribute to her roots with loose silhouettes, traditional cable knits and mix and matching combos. An example of casual wear dressed in a versatile spirit, that fits both leisure and on-duty times.

Why Robyn Lynch found a room in our “Lights On” serie? Her overdose usage of colors proposed in monochromatic gender fluid attires, perfect for a woman wardrobe too. Ours surely!

Schermata 2020-04-21 alle 14.14.58.pngart by @sidedimes

Movies, music, history, books, fashion: every home has become the place to be, the cinema, the library, the concert hall where to be entertained during isolation.

Here what kept us busy from the beginning of this caos:

what to do.001

  1. FILM: The Staggering Girl. A 35 minutes long film directed by Luca Guadagnino with Julianne Moore as the main protagonist. The movie is a must-see for the charming and oneiric liaison with the fashion world as all the female characters wear Valentino Haute Couture.

Each episode tells a story based on feminism and empowerment: one of the latest audible chapters is hosted by Karime Lopez, chef de Cusine of Gucci Osteria.
  3.  MUSIC: “After Hours” The Weeknd. Released on March 20th, “After Hours” is the 4th album produced by the Canadian musician. 14 songs with nocturne atmospheres and 80’s beats to dance in all night long.
  4. BOOK: “The Snowman” Jo Nesbø. As one of the most recognized crime writer, Jo Nesbø drags you into a vortex of suspense and thrill.
  5. NETFLIX: “Next in Fashion” & “The King”. Are you a “are you still watching” pro? The streaming platform gives you plenty of different genres on series, films and documentaries. COURTROOM SKETCHES X MET GALA 2020

One week has passed since the first Monday in May and yet the Met Gala hype echoes loudly on the Internet. Concrete proofs are fashion and lifestyle websites that still dedicate headlines and articles to the most extravagant event of the year, as Highsnobiety did, sharing some drawings of the fantasy looks created by the courtroom skecther Aggie Whelan Kenny on the most awaited and potential guests, including Frank Ocean, Lizzo and Kim Kardashian-West.

THE FASHION QUARANTINE

For the last couple of months, loungewear and casual wear have become a necessary dress code. It is no secret – indeed – that the Coronavirus emergency drastically changed our concept of dressing, making us opting for comfier and cozier attires.

A (fashion) green light to knit combinations, with cycling shorts to be matched with crop tops and printed cardigans (a must have for the season), but also sweatshirts and hoodies that meet feminine pieces – such as silk slip dresses and midi skirts.

MEN IN RAINBOW SUITS

No more boundaries. Nowadays men are free to express their creativity through pop colors, loose silhouettes and feminine details. A colorful example are actors and musicians who choose to conquer red carpets and seat front row in unconventional monochromatic rainbow suits.

Do you think it’s too late to talk about three-piece suits? Of course not, there are plenty of options made of lighter and breathable materials, such as cotton and linen.
