PASTICCERIA GATTULLO | MILANO

Freezing February days call for warm cuddles. For this week destination PLACESOFOURS takes you through the doors of Pasticceria Gattullo — historic Milanese pastry shop. Here begins a culinary journey made of hospitality and elegance, among crystal chandeliers, warm lights and exquisite marble shelves. Often decorated with delicate pink tablecloths.

A bar suitable for breakfast and aperitifs, but also for a quick spuntino with salatinipizzette, pastries of all shapes and kinds and a pocketful of chocolates. To be interspersed with a sip of cappuccino or a glass of red hot Campari.

WHAT: Pasticerria Gattullo, a typical Milanese pâtisserie.

WHERE: Piazzale di Porta Lodovica, 2, Milan

WHY: From breakfast to aperitif, Pasticceria Gattullo promises you the classic atmosphere of the most historical bars of the city. Between crystal chandeliers, wooden upholstery and pink tablecloths Pasticceria Gattullo will serve you coffee with a hint of the Wes Anderson-y fantasy.

As creative director Serhat Işık said to define the GmbH FW21 collection, “we will dress up, rave and dance again”. So when the so awaited moment will come, let’s find yourself ready to embrace the strobing dance floor spirit.

Among others, the question gripping the global fashion dancers is what to wear to enter the iconic Berghain. Given there is no actual rule for being allowed into the exclusive, underground Berlinese club —and your access solely depends on luck and bodyguards’ preferences—, here is a PLACESOFOURS‘ total looks selection, designed by GmbH, Bottega Veneta and Alan Crocetti.

The audacious and daring appearance – and passepartout – is guaranteed.

SS21 FASHION CAMPAIGNS

The countdown has officially started. Ready to leave such a difficult winter behind, spring blossoms with the best SS21 fashion campaigns. Frames that enhance long gone sensations and feelings, such as freedom, optimism and lightness. This is how an impactful styling, saturated shots and intimate portraits become the glam ingredients of Maison like Kenzo, taking its fashion campaign on the road between Los Angeles, Havana and Marrakech, Givenchy, that focuses on the big names of the moment (Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Playboi Carti) to present the first Matthew M. Williams creations, and Salvatore Ferragamo, which —flanked by director Luca Guadagnino— made its campaign into a fashion Hitchcock-inspired film called “Life in Technicolor”.

Wether you plan to spend the night with your lover, your closest friends or just toasting to your own sweet company, 2021 Valentine’s Day attire does not have to be boring – even through a global pandemic.

Home-y date night can be spiced up with bold statement pieces as a funny embroidered suit and a floaty dress to pair with unlikely-to-be-worn-at-home heels and colorful touches as the cherry on top.

MEN IN THE BIGGEST SS21 TRENDS

The Oversized Bomber Jacket Y/Project, Bermudas Etro, Acid Burberry, Pastels MSGM, The Utility Suit Givenchy, Nautical Casablanca

What will men wear with Spring/Summer 21 approaching? No time for flowers, but plenty of lavender-like pastel colors to land on monochrome urban outfits. Alongside the evergreen suit turned utility fit and the oversized bomber jacket aesthetic, men will also find themselves light total looks up with acid hues, as a reflector ray sweeping winter away. For the travelers overwhelmed by nostalgia, instead, it will be time to board the nautical trend, made of stripes and silk foulard. Must-have pieces on every man’s daily agenda.

Feeling romantic? Sweeten 2021 Valentine’s Day with a wide range of extra-thoughtful gifts to surprise your loved ones. Putting chocolate aside, there is one for all lovers type and occasions.

During hard times thinking about future plans can soften the mood. Boscolo’s travel gift box will accompany couples through the memorable experience of sleeping a step away from the sea, right in some of the most romantic Italian lighthouses. To take the classic flower-game to the next level instead, Baccarat has designed an exclusive set of crystal vases to bring the French allure directly to the table.

Valentine’s Day is also the perfect time to spoil your sweet halves with fashion gems. Our favorites? Together with the Woolrich’s coziest logo sweater and the XL monogrammed Heart card holder from Gucci, irresistible is the bloody red oversized blazer by the Milanese Maison Prada. To gift your men and steal them.

THE FEBRUARY WARDROBE: STATEMENT BOOTS

To step into the last glimmers of cold and gray with the right attitude, February’s placesofours wardrobe is all about must-have statement boots. Bold accessories that get along with classic winter warmers, aka the evergreen black coat with pronounced padded shoulders or the extra-long puffer jacket to go from bed to street duvet with a single gesture.

Versatile, essential, timeless. This late season outerwear is worn with gritty animal prints —with zebra on our top list— and seductive vinyl silhouettes that stick to the leg like a magnet.

HARRY STYLES: THE GOLDEN BOY OF GENDERLESS FASHION

A name, a guarantee. Harry Styles knows how to serve extravagant looks and his genderless approach to fashion still represents a much needed cry for freedom of expression. Free from limits and stereotypes.

The British “Golden” boy —who celebrated his 27 birthday on February 1—, in fact, went from being just a One Direction member to an awards-winning artist and style icon in no time. Long since face and body of the Gucci fairy aesthetic, Harry Styles is the spokesperson for a polyhedric wardrobe with an impromptu taste. Lace, rouches and transparencies are on Styles’ everyday agenda, as often as the colorblock grandpa-cardigans and Seventies flared pastel suits.

Knitted vests with an inlaid flock of sheep alternate with corduroy trousers and fluttering shirts. And what about accessories? You can’t spell Harry Styles without mentioning a cascade of pearls around his neck. A unisex uniform to replicate now and forever.

HOW TO: THE ZOOM CALL

It’s a business-y Zoom call as soon as we take our tracksuit off to throw our favorite polished blazer and some photogenic details on.

Since COVID-19 hit, work days and friends parties have taken an unexpected road, forcing us to meet via long-distance pixelated rendez-vous, a glass of Chianti in one hand and a weekly planner in the other. The perfect occasion — the Zoom one — to play with always new yet easy ideas not to look too shabby (without the chic) on screen.

LIGHTS ON: MAXIMILIAN

As a new pearl of the English style collector Fashion East, Maximilian presented his first collection, “J’ouvert”, for Spring/Summer 2021 as a toast to Black elegance in the whirlwind of the Black Lives Matter protests.

Born from the designer’s need to honor his recently deceased grandmother, Maximilian Davis celebrates the woman Trinidadian origins through sharp tailoring, inspired both by the scenic history of the 19th century Carnival and the daily way of Cuban dressing. Thus, alongside opulent feather headpieces, harnessed backs tops, vertiginous cut-outs and pleated ra-ra skirts, harlequin printed T-shirts, loose trousers and jeans appear. Twilight garments — mostly colored in black, white and cobalt blue — that come to life as the sun goes down.

Tailored, elegant and proudly sexy, Maximilian enfolds both women and men with self-confidence.
